ILLUME is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of high-quality branded and private-label home fragrance and personal care products. ILLUME is located in Maple Grove, Minnesota and housed in a state-of-the-art Corporate Office, Distribution and Manufacturing facility.

ILLUMEĀ®is looking for Lab Technicians for all shifts:

1st shift: 6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday - Friday

2nd shift: 2 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. Monday - Thursday

3rd shift: 6 p.m. - 4:30 a.m. Monday - Thursday

Position Summary

As Lab Technician, you will work independently batching, wicking, and pouring candles for analysis while maintaining a high level of quality. Under the supervision of the Lab Supervisor, you will assist with light stability analysis, color work, and color checks.


  • Perform simple lab requests
  • Batch, wick, and pour candles
  • Assist with color work and checks

  • Locate raw materials

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform simple lab requests

  • Move completed candles to appropriate location
  • Update Project database with correct information
  • Complete final internal reports

Batch, wick, and pour candles

  • Create prototypes, burn testing candles, show samples, and sample tins

Assist with color work and checks

  • Review new pantones, match pantones/plates, and fix colors for production under direction of Lab Supervisor.

Assist with light stability analysis

  • Help Lab Supervisor with light stability samples
  • Document shifts in color or appearance

Locate raw materials

  • Utilize Macola to find bin locations of raw materials

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • High school diploma or GED required or six (6) months of lab experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to exchange general work-related information.
  • Detailed oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Teams, Calendaring.
  • Math skills necessary.
  • Work independently with direction and ability to communicate when necessary.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Problem solving skills: Ability to identify critical factors which will affect the outcome of a decision. Ability to choose a good option out of two or more alternatives with simple problem-solving approach using intuition, reasoning, or a combination of both.
  • Flexible and organized. Ability to adapt and be flexible within a changing environment.
